1. Have the video suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section ready to show it to students and download the file suggested as well for the second activity.

2. Tell students they will watch a video about two friends talking about what they are going to do.

3, Write on the board three  wrong sentences using ‘going to’ and ask students to find the mistake.

4. It would be a good idea to  divide the video into four parts and pause it for students to comment on each part.

5. Play the video and recommend students to listen to ‘going to’ when these friends are talking.

6. Make a list of vocabulary on the board: nouns and verbs.

7. Help students with comprehension of the story by asking Yes/No questions as well as WH_ (simple) questions.

8. Go back to the board and tell students to make some sentences about the friends on the video using those nouns and verbs.

9. Ask students to work in pairs and play the video for them to read and say the sentences along with the animation.

10. Make copies for students. The answers come on the second page of the same file for you to print and use during the activity.

11. Ask students when their birthday is and then if they’re going to have a party.

12. Invite students to work in pairs and ask them to choose one of the two columns .

13. Set a time limit for the activity and consider there are 30 words to unscramble (15 each student)

14. Monitor and when the time is up ask two pairs of students to check and compare their lists.

15. Finally, ask some pairs of students to read the scrambled word first and then what it is.

2. Remind students about the pattern ‘going to’ they learnt in previous lessons.

3. Review and ask students what they can express with ‘going to ‘.

4. Distribute the worksheet and tell students they need to complete with the missing words.

5. Tell students to work with section A and when they finish, stand up and find a classmate to compare answers with.

6. As for section B, students need to correct 4 sentences only. Students will find a different classmate to compare answers with and tell the class what the error was.

7. Write on the board 3 more incorrect sentences for the class to correct.

8. Tell students to complete section C and make sure they remember how to make negative sentences.

9. Ask some volunteers to come to the board and write the rule for ‘going to’ in affirmative, negative, and question form.

1. Download and print the worksheets suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section in advance, and make photocopies for each student.

2. Ask students  questions with WH-words and using ‘going to’, i.e, What are you going to do Saturday?, What are you going to watch on TV tonight ? , Who are you going to play after school?

3. Then, ask a couple of ‘yes /no questions’ for students to notice the how different the questions are.

4. When you make the copies and cut them out , make sure you remove from the list the questions which do not apply to the age of your students such as, ‘Is there anyone in your class who is going to get married?’

5. Make two or three copies (depending on the number of students you have) and make sure everybody gets 3 questions to practice.

6. Ask students to work in groups of three and put 9 questions in a plastic bag or container for them. When all groups have their questions ask them to take turns, draw a question, and answer it.

7. Each group will do three rounds of questions.

8. If time allows, when they finish asking and answering questions, invite students to write 2 questions and put them in a container.

10. Ask students what after-school activities they do  and list them on the board.

11. Tell students they are going to practice that vocabulary and they are going to contrast present simple and ‘going to’.

12. Invite volunteers to come to the front and write the missing verb that goes with the complement.

13. Invite the rest of the class to write the sentences in their notebooks.

14. Ask students those sentences are in present simple and ask tell them to imagine they are going to take one or more of those classes.

15. Model the activity, T: what classes are you going to take, Luis? Luis: I’m going to take…I want to be in the school band., etc. Then, ask students to work in pairs.

16. Monitor and offer help with grammar and vocabulary as needed.
