1. Have the beam projector ready to show the activity and download the suggested file in the MEd to make copies for students.

2. Tell students they are now going to write directions and will need to review spelling and some grammar as well.

3. Ask students what is easier for them, to give directions orally or written.

4. Show the map and ask students to identify  the ‘You-are-here’ spot and start from there.

5. Tell them they need to write directions to get to two different places from that spot using at least 5 different expressions and making sure to use the correct preposition.

6 When students are finished ask them to mingle, find out other students who wrote how to get to the same places as them and compare their directions.

7. Then, ask students to find out somebody else who wrote how to get to a different place from theirs.

8.  Tell students they are going to practice vocabulary and spelling at the same time.

9. Distribute the worksheet and draw students’ attention towards the example. They need to read the sentences and think of the place, then correct the spelling of that place.

10. Set a time limit and when time is up, ask students to work in pairs and check their answers.

11. Ask pairs of students to choose three places from the list and write directions to get there from any other place they choose.

12. Ask volunteers to read their sentences and check that the grammar and spelling of the directions are accurate

4  Tell students that a guest at the resort  Beachmere wants to catch the bus so he needs directions for a route from the resort in Cowie Street to the bus stop.

5. Ask students to read the routes they wrote and see how many students took the same route and wrote the same. Then, ask for volunteers to read different routes.

6. Invite students to complete the activity by writing a short description of the area the hotel is located in.

7. Ask students to exchange their paragraphs with other classmates and get feedback from them.

8. This next activity is for students to practice speaking by using some dialogs so remind students of your question at the beginning, what they prefer, giving directions orally or in a written form.

9. Distribute the worksheet and draw students’ attention towards the given words for each dialog to complete.

10. Set at time limit and when the time is up, ask students to read the dialogs in pairs.

11. Ask students to rewrite the dialogs in their notebooks and change words they used for original ones and add two  more line to each dialog.

12. Invite students to read their dialogs to the class.

2. Tell students they are going to play a board game where they get to talk about places and locations and discuss how important it is that we are able to perform roles when learning a language rather than only memorizing.

5. Roll the die twice. The 1st roll determines the number on the top. The 2nd roll determines the number on the left.

6. Tell students to talk for one / two minutes (s) [or less depending on the level of your students] about that topic they landed on and the other classmates will ask him/her follow-up questions.

7 Students can ask anything if he/she lands on “Ask Any Question.

8 Monitor the activity and encourage students to talk about the topics.

9. Ask students to write down a short paragraph about the places they describe and talked about.

10. After students have practice directions and places with a speaking activity, it is time to review prepositions in a quiz format. Tell students not to worry about getting a grade but to make an effort to understand the context and choose the right preposition.

11.Distribute the worksheet and tell students they are going to read the sentences and choose the correct preposition that completes them.

12. Set a time limit and when time is up, ask students to exchange their worksheets with other students to check.

13. Return the worksheet to their owners and discuss the use of those prepositions in the sentences.

14. Ask students to find the sentences that talk about places and locations.
