1. Have the beam projector ready to show students the video suggested in the MED and download the file and make copies for students as well.

2.Ask students what is easier for them, asking for' or 'giving directions' and discuss answers with the class.

3.  This is a pair-work activity for students to gain more practice on asking and giving directions so use the box with expressions to review.

4. Give each student a corresponding A or B worksheet, and tell the students not to show their worksheet to their partner.

5. Draw the students' attention to the 'Useful language' box on the worksheet and review how to ask for and give directions with the

class.

6. Next, tell the students that they are going to give directions, starting at the pin located at the bottom of the map.

7. Student A goes first and asks Student B for directions to the places shown on their worksheet in the order shown. Student B then gives directions from place to place.

8. When Student A has been directed to each place, they mark the location on their map. The student then asks for directions to the

next place from there.

9. When all ten places have been marked on the map, the two students swap roles.

10. Afterwards, the students compare their maps to see if they have marked the locations correctly

11. Tell students they are going to review/ practice ‘Imperatives’.

12. Play the video at 1:34 and listen to the information about ‘Imperatives’. Make pauses and discuss with students the information.

13. Do the exercise with students by asking them to identify the directions and drop the correct one under each picture.

14. Ask students to write down some of the expressions learned from previous lessons and underline the ‘imperative’.

1. Download the files suggested in the MED and make copies for students.

2.Tell students they are going to practice with a fun activity about giving directions. Divide the class into pairs (A and B).

3. Ask the students what question they would use to ask for directions.  Elicit the question: Can you tell me the way to...?

4. Give each student a corresponding A or B worksheet.

5. Tell the students that they must keep their worksheet secret until they have finished the activity. Explain that both students have the same map, but each student has different places missing.

6. The students' task is to ask their partner for directions to eight places and write the locations on the map. Check the students know where they are on the map (at the top of North Road). This is where they start giving directions from each time.

7. Student A goes first and asks Student B for directions to one of the places written on the worksheet.

8. Student A listens to their partner's directions and marks the location by writing the name of the place on the map. When Student A has found all eight places, the students swap roles.

9 Afterwards, the students compare their maps and check to see if they have marked the places correctly

10. Ask students what we use prepositions for and which ones they remember. Elicit particularly prepositions of place.

11. Distribute the worksheet, ask students to read first the prepositions at the bottom of the page, and circle the ones ‘of place’ 

12. Set a time limit, and when students are finished ask them to give you one imperative like in giving directions to go with the preposition.
