1. Prepare the beam projector to show students both websites on the board. Have them ready in advance.

2. Show students the first website using a projector beam so all students can see clearly.

3. Tell students that this website will help them find a story to read and discuss about.

4. Browse the site and show students some of the stories that they can read as a class or at home and share the website address with them, so they can check it out later.

5. As you look at all the stories on the website, ask students several questions to determine what type of stories they like or to find out which of these stories they already know.

6. Project the second website with the story “The Tortoise and the Hare” to introduce it to students. Make sure all students can see clearly

7. Ask students if they are familiar with the story and have volunteers talk about it. 

8. Read the story out loud and have students follow your reading. 

9. Ask some comprehension questions at the end. Focus students’ attention on the format, the characters intervention, plot, etc.

11. Finally, divide the class into small groups and encourage them to read the story in teams.

1. Download the file suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section in advance, and make photocopies for each student.

2. Before starting the activity, ask students questions to see if they can tell the difference between letters and numbers. Ask questions like: “Do you write your name with numbers or letters? Do you say your age with letters or numbers?” etc.

3. You can also have students count numbers from 1-30 and then practice saying the alphabet.

4. Then, give the photocopies away to each student and read the title of the activity and instructions out loud. 

5. Have students do the activity individually and quietly, and walk around the class to monitor their work. 

6. Pair up students for them to check their classmates' work.

7. Finally, ask students to pass to the front five at a time and dictate them either numbers or letters for more practice.

1. Have the video and worksheet suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section ready.

2. Prepare the beam projector to show the video and choose one template to work with your class. Remember to print a photocopy of the worksheet for each student.

3. Project the video on the board using a beam projector for everyone to see it.

4. Play the video and have students listen to the story. Write all new vocabulary on the board. 

5. Double check the meaning of the new vocabulary with students.

6. Play the video again and ask students questions for them to identify the beginning, middle and end of the story.

7. Write students’ ideas on the board.

8. Now, give away the worksheets and complete it as a class based on the Jack and Jill story they just watched.

9. Write students' ideas on the board to complement the ones you already wrote.

10. Have students complete their own story maps individually. Tell students they can use the ideas you wrote on the board. Walk around the class and help when necessary.

11. Finally, ask volunteers to retell the story based on the story map they made.
