1. Download and make photocopies of worksheet suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section for each student.

2. Before starting the class talk to students about rhymes and have students tell you if they know any. Encourage them to share with the rest of the class.

3. Give away the photocopies to each student and go over each poem with them and do the suggested activities.

4. Have students look at the pictures and ask them if they see any relation with the poem or rhyme, they are reading.

5. Clarify any new vocabulary word and make sure students understand it by having children say their meaning in their own language.

6. Then, read the poems and rhymes aloud and have students read after. Correct any pronunciation mistake they may have.

7. Finally, have students work in pairs or teams of three and ask them to choose a poem or rhyme for them to memorize and say it to the rest of the class.

1. Download and print the three sets of memory cards suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section in advance, and make photocopies for students to work in teams. If possible, laminate them so you can use them several times.

2. Have a beam projector ready to show to students the cards.

3. Before starting the game, project the cards and go over each of them saying the words aloud. Encourage students to read after you.

4. Ask students at random to spell some of the words in the cards. Help them if necessary.

5. Have students work in teams of four or five and once they are with their groups give them a set of cards so they can play a rhyming memory game.

6. Tell students the instructions to play the memory game. They have to find pairs of rhyming words.

7. As students are playing, walk around and monitor the activity.

8. Finally, go over all the cards one more time using the beam projector and ask students to spell the words and say them. Make sure most students participate.

4. Read the first rhyme aloud and have students read along silently and point with their fingers the words they are reading. Make sure students understand all the words in it.

5. Then, read the first rhyme one more time and have children read aloud after.

6. Follow the same steps for the rest of the rhymes in the worksheets.

8. Finally, have volunteers come to the front and say the rhyme aloud to the rest of the class. Make sure most students participate.
