1. Download the PowerPoint presentation “Expressing Opinion” and the “Giving Opinions” worksheet suggested in the “recursos” section to your computer. 2. Make photocopies of the worksheet for each student in advance. 3. Ask students what they do when a friend or another person asks them for their opinion about something. Have them tell you what expressions they use, etc.

4. Tell students there are several ways to express opinions some of them show neutral opinions, agreement and disagreement. 5. Give students a photocopy of the “Giving Opinions” worksheet and analyze as a group each of the expressions on the different categories. 6. Show students the PowerPoint presentation “Expressing Opinion” and show the first slide. Ask students what they think about it. 7. Remind them about the different ways of expressing opinions, show them slide 2 and clarify any doubts.

8. Show students the rest of the slides and have different students express their opinion about the subjects, make sure they are using the expressions correctly.

If time allows it, choose two or three topics from the “Practice Topics” section and practice the expressions as a group. 4. Give away the photocopies of the “BUILDING AN ARGUMENT”worksheet and have students take a look at it and ask them to tell you what they think it is for.

5. Tell students that in order to give an opinion we must have evidence or reasons to back up our opinions. Tell them this worksheet will help them organize their ideas and that they may use it for the plenary session next class. 6. Allow students to get together with their teammates to finish organizing the plenary session.

3. Before students start with the plenary session, and once they are all ready, show them the “Discussion Board Rules” poster and ask them to read each of the rules silently as you read them aloud. Clarify any doubts and make sure they understand the rules. 4. Ask students to start with their plenary and act only as a monitor. Help them if it is really necessary; remind them to always be respectful to their classmates’ opinions.

5. Once the plenary is over, give students the “Tweet pupil self-assessment” and ask them to write down the answer to the three questions included in it as well as to write their hash tags.
