Desarrollo | 00:40 | T, model the following words so SS know where the accent is on each one of them: • shape, • Celtic, • out, • March, • plain, • cyberspace, • shortcut, • computer; • book; • bard, • latitude, • notion, • Math, • form, • teacher. 5’ Now ask Ss to repeat the words after you. Finally have them clap on the accentuated syllable when they hear it. T, be very watchful of the L1 interference that happens with Ss whose first language is Spanish, particularly when it comes to syllable accents. I’m including a link to a site where you’ll find information on the phonics, syllable and accent rules. There is a test within this site which you could use as a practice activity for yourself and/or the SS. If you would like to use other words from the test in the page instead of the ones I present feel free to do so. 10’ Play with monkey match game, there are three games to match upper and lower letters, and letter sound and rhymes. 10’ T, there is a link in the “recursos” column to a page for spelling homework. Choose “write a story using at least 8 spelling words”. The words will have to come from the list of words you introduced during this session. Have Ss write a story using those words. Call it perhaps a “crazy” story since the words from the previous list don’t really have a lot in common. Please emphasize the use of upper and lower caps; punctuation and of course proper spelling. 15’ T, we’ll continue using some of the activities in the worksheet during our following sessions. |
